Sporting Injuries & Kids Fitness

Ocean Kids Physio has highly experienced and skilled Paediatric Physiotherapists who can assess and treat musculoskeletal and sporting injuries in children. Our initial assessments include a comprehensive postural, biomechanical and neuromotor assessment to address all the factors, which can contribute to movement difficulties, pain or skills acquisition difficulties. We also liaise with your child’s sports teacher, coach or team to promote their best sporting outcomes.

What’s different about Kids Physio?
Children are very different to adults during key periods of growth and learning. The biomechanics that cause adults to become injured are different in children, as they are still growing.
Kids are prone to growth spurts between 9-13 years, which can cause a host of issues, which will affect their movement and sports skills. Their muscles play catch up to their fast growing bones, meaning their co-ordination, balance, muscle strength and tone and joint / muscle feedback mechanisms can be impaired, which increases the risk of injury.
Furthermore, children have key differences in the laxity (flexibility) within their joints, which makes them more flexible than adults, which can put them at risk or injury, lower limb problems, postural problems and skill acquisition concerns.
Paediatric Physiotherapists are experts in movement analysis, diagnosis and treatment of the real cause of your child’s movement problem or injury concern.
