Cuevas Medek Exercise (CME)
CME is a specialised psychomotor therapy designed for infants with developmental delays, syndromes and conditions affecting the central nervous system. CME therapy provokes the child's automatic postural responses by exposing the infant to the influence of gravity through a variety of positions and exercises. CME assists the brain to re-organise the components of each movement to develop a motor plan, then skill acquisition such as sitting, rolling, standing, walking.
Our Senior Physiotherapist Katie travelled to Chile in 2019 to work with CME creator Ramon Cuevas, and successfully completed her CME Level 1 training. Our Physiotherapist, Nick Callanan completed his CME Level 1 training with Canadian Tutor in January 2021. Ocean Kids is one of only 3 centres in Australia that has two qualified Cuevas Medek Exercise (CME) therapists, our Physio's Katie and Nick.
CME is suitable for babies from 4 months old, until they are walking and climbing stairs, however due to the nature of the technique, we are only able to work with children of a certain weigh. Eligibility is determined during an initial Assessment.
