What does a Paediatric Physiotherapist do for babies?
A Paediatric Physiotherapist is the first person your GP or Maternal Child Health Nurse will refer you to if they have any concerns about your baby's physical development.
Our Paediatric Physiotherapists are specialists in global development including milestones, sensory systems, movement and play skills. They understand how babies learn, move and play.
At every age, and at every stage, we know what's normal, what's expected, and what's next in your baby's development.
Our Paediatric Physiotherapists can assess and diagnose anything that presents as abnormal such as clicky hips, scrunchy toes, clenched fists, flat heads, low muscle tone, tight arms and legs, sensory development issues, reflux and so much more.
Our Paediatric Physiotherapists are your 'go to' for any concern regarding your baby's body or brain development.
We treat babies as young as 2 weeks old; so if you have any concerns with your baby's development Contact Us

Baby Developmental Screenings
Our Senior Paediatric Physiotherapists, Desiree and Katie, provide a 30-minute screening for babies at the age of 6 weeks old. They will complete a short assessment, checking the baby's head shape, neck tightness, muscle tone, spine, hips and legs, as well as assessing motor and developmental milestones.
Desiree and Katie will then provide useful activities and strategies to enable your baby to develop to their full potential, including advice for ANY concerns or questions you may have.
Baby screenings are useful to diagnose or prevent conditions such as plagiocephaly and developmental delays.
We recommend a Baby Screenings for ALL babies at 6 weeks of age.
'Thank you so much for seeing Lucy! I didn't even notice her head tilt or the flattening on the back of her head. I was surprised to find out that she also had silent reflux! She's now 4 months old, can roll by herself and smiles all the time!. Thank you Ocean Kids' - Amy McNamara, 2020.
